Traditional use - headache,
generalized aching, fever/chills, rheumatic arthralgia. Has an antibacterial
effect, antifungal effect, sudorific (sweating) effect, antipyretic
effect, analgesic.
5. Angelicae Dehuricae Radix [Angelica]

Traditional use - controls pain,
removes swelling and pus, dermal dryness, pruritus. Has an antibacterial
effect, antifungal effect, analgesic effect (pain reduction), antipyretic
effect (fever reduction).
6. Viticis Fructus [Vitex] (84):
Traditional use - cleanses head
and eyes, headache, ocular pain, common cold, heaviness of the head.
7. Ledebouriellae Radix [Siler]

Traditional use - common cold,
headache, vertigo (dizziness), generalized aching, arthralgia due
to cold, ostalgia. Has an antipyretic effect, antibacterial effect,
antiviral effect.
8. Asari Cum Radice Herba [Asarum]

Traditional use - sinusitis,
rheumatoid arthritis. Has an antipyretic (fever) effect, analgesic
effect, calming effect, antibacterial effect, antitussive (coughing)
effect.
9. Chrysanthemi Morifolii Flos [Chrysanthemum]

Traditional use - Headache,
dizziness, ocular inflammation, dermal boils. Has an antibacterial
effect, antifungal effect, hypotensive effect.
10. Angelicae Pubescentis Radix
[Tu-huo] (321):
Traditional use - headache
due to common cold, aching and pain in loins and knees, arthralgia
due to dampness/wind/cold, pruritus, convulsive pain in hands and
feet. Has a calming effect, analgesic effect, anti-arthritic effect,
hypotensive effect.
11. Scutellariae Radix [Scute] (165):
Traditional use - headache
due to hypertension, insomnia, vomiting, loss of appetite, inflammation,
febrile (feverish) diseases, water retention. Has an hypotensive

effect.
12. Angelicae Sinensis Radix [Tang-Kuei]

Traditional use - headache due
to deficiency of blood, regulates menses, chest and abdominal pain,
constipation, functional bleeding. Has an uterus-regulating effect,
effect on metabolism, relaxing effect, diuretic effect, antibacterial
effect.
13. Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma
[Atractylodes] (524):
Traditional use - spleen deficiency,
fatigue, loss of appetite, mental fatigue, diarrhea, edema, spontaneous
perspiration, dizziness, vomiting. Has a diuretic effect, sedative
effect, blood sugar-lowering effect, stomachic/digestion effect.
14. Zingiberis Officinalis Rhizoma
[Fresh Ginger] (64):
Traditional use - cold and flu
herb, nausea, vomiting, swelling, pain in chest and abdomen. Has
an anti-emetic effect (inhibits vomiting), stomachic effect (stimulates
gastroenteric activities), sudorific effect (stimulation of capillary
blood circulation), antibacterial effect, lowering of blood pressure.
15. Glycyrrhizae Uralensis Radix
[Licorice] (532):
One of the oldest and most popular
herbs. Traditional use - harmonizes the stomach and spleen, diarrhea
due to spleen deficiency, thirst due to stomach deficiency. Has
a detoxifying effect, antispasmodic effect, gastric secretion-inhibiting
action, anti-inflammatory effect, anti-ulcer effect, also antitussive,
expectorant, anti-allergic, immune system effect.
